Beautiful mountain home with gorgeous surroundings. Tucked away in a canyon home to the frolicking Dalton Creek (during times when it is flowing). Wildlife surrounds with glimpses of multitudes of birds including raptors; shy coyotes, bears, deer, elk, bobcat, grouse, turkey will be spotted. Set in an aspen and pine forest in a small pocket of private land surrounded by thousands of acres of national forest, it is the perfect creative getaway. We have a garden bed right outside which has been grown regeneratively so the soil is the best an avid gardener could hope for. There are flower beds, a lawn, a gazebo and a breeze-way which serve the person who loves spending time in the out-of-doors splendidly. Inside the furnished house, it is comfortable and bright having south facing windows which capture the warmth in the winter. Made from highly insulated pumice-crete with 20" thick walls which keeps a comfortable and even temperature throughout the year. The finishes are beautifully done with diamond troweled plaster walls throughout, and wonderful Northern New Mexican touches including nichos, lintels, flagstone floors in downstairs living area, custom cabinetry and oak flooring upstairs. Two of the bedrooms are very large and the downstairs bedroom is cozy. The downstairs bath has a jacuzzi tub and hot-water-on- demand. We have always just heated from the wood stove but recently installed an efficient heat-pump, mini-split system. The 100-foot well serves up the best water ever tasted. Surrounding the home are hundreds of miles of hiking trails. One hour from Santa Fe and with 3 miles of bumpy dirt road to traverse to the community's gated entry, a reliable high clearance vehicle is a must-have. AWD or 4WD are required in the winter (and there will be a few times that necessitate chains). There is one other full time person living in the community, an 80-year-old lady. The rest of the homes are used as second houses. We built this place and raised our daughter there and couldn't have done it in a better place. Having moved to Colorado, it is time for us to pass it along to someone else who will be able to enjoy it as we have. Utilities are not included in rent.
